Coral Sea Dreaming is a remarkable visual and musical odyssey into the world of coral reefs. It is the result of over 4 years collaboration between a group of Australian based scientists, film makers and artists, who share one obsession, coral reefs.

The images in Coral Sea dreaming were captured by specially developed underwater camera systems and techniques. It represents a new approach to the natural history video by synthesizing scientific and aesthetic knowledge, and focusing it into a musical, artistic expression.

The haunting and magical experiences of the reef realm are communicated through the camera work of David Hannan, who, teamed with scientist Russell Kelley and artist Cathy Bone, make up the nucleus of the natural history production company, Coral Sea Imagery. This is their dreaming.

The makers of Coral Sea Dreaming want you to see nature on its own terms. This is why the video comes without words, but with a specially composed musical score by Adelaide composer Tania Rose. Scientific understanding begins in seeing. Coral Sea Dreaming lets you see for yourself, lets you be the explorer.
