This stirring and heartfelt tribute is also a real-life tale: the story of Sergei Grinkov and Ekaterina Gordeeva. They met in their native Moscow and were paired when she was only 11 and he was 15. Together they won four World Championships and gold medals in the 1988 and 1994 Olympic pairs skating competitions – and together, they fell in love. Inseparable, Sergei and Ekaterina were soulmates both on and off the ice.

Then, at the age of 28, Sergei died of sudden heart failure during one of their practice sessions. This is the story of their life together, as told in Ekaterina’s own words, for their daughter, Daria. A unique combination of re-enactment, actual skating clips, and interviews with fellow skaters Scott Hamilton, Kristi Yamaguchi and Victor Petrenko, it brinks the romance and tragedy of these champions vividly to life.
