John Wayne sets the wild “frontier” ablaze with his passion for love and country in this thrilling romantic adventure! Leading a regiment of Kentucky riflemen, Commander John Breen (John Wayne) passes through a settlement of dispatriated French families; all wealthy refugees of war from Napoleon’s court. There, Breen’s rugged heart is captured by the lovely Fleurette, a French general’s daughter. But the rich and powerful Blake Randolph also has his heart set on Fleurette and will stop at nothing to win her. As the two suitors lock horns, Breen discovers that Randolph is associated with a land fraud scheme to evict the French settlers. And soon the courtship battle escalates into a full-scale war between the fighting Kentuckians and the displaced French forces. It’s “The Duke” at his best in a fight for a lady love and the land of the free!
