Star Trek: The Next Generation: Encounter At Farpoint - Collector's Edition (VHS)

Stardate: 41153.7 The new Starship Enterprise and its crew set out on their first mission to explore the mystery surrounding Farpoint station on planet Deneb IV

Enroute, Captain Picard and his crew meet "Q." The mysterious and powerful being denounces the human race as barbarians and challenges the crew to disprove his belief.

Picard defends himself and mankind, but "Q" announces that he knows humans all too well.

Suddenly, in a bright flash of light. Picard, Data, Troi and Yar find themselves in a 21st century courtroom. When the bailiff announces the judge, the crew is shocked to find "Q" 'sitting on the bench'!

At the trial, Picard defends his race and convinces "Q" that the mission at Farpoint will be the perfect opportunity to prove his point. "Q" gives him 24 hours and a reminder that failing this test will mean death. 

They investigate the station, startled by the seemingly magical qualities of the planet.

While the crew searches through tunnels beneath the station, an unidentified ship begins firing on the old city. However, the ship turns out to be an alien being attacking the people of Deneb IV who have captured its mate.

After reuniting the aliens, the crew learns that it has passed "Q's" test and head off for their next mission.
